Romans Review
Hi everyone! Every week a leader will be posting something brief on what we studied the previous week to help us all review. Looking forward to seeing you all tonight.
The passage of Scripture that we looked at last week was Romans 10:12-21 and we looked at different aspects of the word of Christ (verse 17).
One word that stands out first in the passage is the word ‘call’, in verse 13, which refers to one who is calling out in desperation to be delivered from danger. The word of Christ is the only thing that can warn a person that he is in danger because of their sin. I asked the question, "Have you been brought to desperation by the word of God to the point where you have cried out for mercy?"
The word of Christ has to be proclaimed by a herald or a preacher (verse 14) in order for people to hear and come to faith in Christ.
The word of Christ is the only thing that can bring about faith in a person (verse 17). If people do not hear the word of Christ, that is the Gospel, they will not come to faith.
Christians are fully responsible to proclaim the Gospel in order that people would come to faith.
We also looked at the fact that the word of Christ has been rejected by Israel. We will continue this topic tonight and in the weeks to come.

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to tell you about a wonderful opportunity I had last thursday. I take classes at a nearby community college and as I was eating lunch I happened to notice a young woman reading. It looked alot like a Bible so I asked her if she was reading a Bible. She said yes and adding on that she reads her bible everyday. Well, throughout the course of our hour-long discussion I found out that she was a mormon and that she went to a church not far from the college. Last Friday night Ben was teaching in an area that deals with issues that I had talked with this woman about. Mormons believe in grace mixed with works to achieve salvation- but take a look at what Romans 11 verse 6 says "But if it [salvation] is by grace, it is no longer on the basis of works, otherwise grace is no longer grace."
It is made very clear in the scriptures that it cannot be a mixture of grace and works. They do not mix at all, in fact. You must have total and free grace in order to have salvation.
